After God, my family comes first
After God, my family is the most important thing in my life. Everything I do begins with them and returns to them: my wife, our three children, and the home we have built together here in Italy.
For many years my life was measured in seasons, rehearsals and flights between opera houses. I loved that life, and I am grateful for every stage that welcomed me. But there is no applause, no ovation, no praise in this world that can compare to the love of the most important art of all: creation. To be a co-creator of life with my wife and with God, in our family, is the most important thing to me.
That is the reason why I am happy teaching. Through The Old School of Singing® I can keep alive the heritage of the real techniques, which I have so carefully put together in harmony, with life-changing results for my students, and still be at home, close to my wife and children, watching them grow.
“My family is my greatest blessing, and the reason why teaching makes me happy.”
Giancarlo MonsalveAnd the stage? Not out of my mind
The idea of performing again is not out of my mind. Over the past years many offers have kept coming, and I am thankful for each one of them.
But at the moment I am not accepting any offers. My focus now is my family, and The Old School of Singing® with my students, to keep the heritage alive.

My declaration
I belong to God
I do not belong to myself. I belong to God, completely and absolutely.
And so everything that is part of my life, everything that is mine, is His: my wife, my children, my family, my life itself, my talent, my art, my teaching, my school, my finances, my destiny. All of it belongs to God.
I render to Caesar what is Caesar’s. But apart from that, everything is God’s.
This is not a claim of perfection. Nobody is free of sin. Nobody, absolutely nobody, has been, is, or will ever be perfect; only God Himself, who also came among us in the flesh. My family and I make mistakes like everyone else.
Yet even through our errors, God uses His unconditional love to provide, in every single sense, whatever is good in our lives, even when we do not comprehend His ways.
I came to understand that love completely, or at least as completely as a human being can, when I became a father. Then, and only then, did I finally understand what unconditional love is.
I am a son of God by adoption: not by my own merit, but by grace and pure love. On our own we are not perfect. But under the eyes of God and the covenant of Jesus Christ, in spirit, we are. Only by Him.
That is why nothing comes into our lives by chance. Whatever comes to us comes before Him first, because we are His. Behind me, and behind my family, stands Someone far greater than us, who watches over what belongs to Him and protects it.
I seal these words in the name of Jesus Christ.Amen
With love and gratitude,
Giancarlo
